For instance, the UV excitation method can be used to identify the fluorophor compounds which are related to the bacterial activity and oxidation of sebum, which can not be observed without using this method, while the cross polarized red light method can be used to reduce the surface reflections and to see the vascular lesions and erythema. The near infrared bands penetrate into the dermis layer and give information about the hydration level and density of the tissue structure. These are separate images for each spectral channel. These pictures, when pieced together, provide a full picture of the disease condition that can help practitioners detect problems before they can see them. It is directly contributing in the reduction of the symptoms of acne, pigmentation, ageing and sensitive skin.

For example, the melanin index is based almost entirely on blue and amber bands whereas the hemoglobin index is based on green and red bands. These algorithms are continually improved by our IT engineering teams to minimise environmental interference and enhance inter-session repeatability. This allows professionals using Bloom Visage beauty equipment to be confident of monitoring a patient's progress, and compare the spectral data for a patient on a future visit to determine the effectiveness of a product or the results of a therapy.
